The law enforcement department received a report from a 53-year-old currency exchange shop manager at about 9 pm on October 13, stating that he was suddenly threatened by a man holding a knife at the junction of Lai Chi Kok Road and Kwai Lam Street in Sham Shui Po that night, and Attempted to snatch his handbag containing HK$1 million in cash from behind. During this period, two enthusiastic citizens stepped forward to try to subdue the robbers and successfully prevented the victim's belongings from being robbed. The man then boarded a response vehicle parked near the address and fled.
Sham Shui Po District Police immediately launched an investigation and recovered the vehicle suspected to be involved in the Kam Shan Road area. After in-depth investigation, officers discovered that a garage employee was suspected of using someone else's vehicle for maintenance in the garage to commit a crime. Officers later arrested a 49-year-old local man on October 14 for "attempted robbery". He has been provisionally charged with one count of "attempted robbery" and the case will be brought up at the West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (17th).
